What is a Pre-Pointe Assessment?
This is an assessment suitable for a dancer considering starting pointe work. It assesses areas of the body relevant to pointe to assist in preventing injury. Particular attention is given to control, strength and flexibility of the foot, ankle, hips and spine. This will inevitably make it easier and more enjoyable for the dancer to go up ‘en-pointe’.
Exercises are prescribed to correct any areas needing improvement. A report can be provided upon request.
When should I get a Pre-Pointe Assessment?
2-3 months prior to commencing pointe is preferable. This allows the dancer to start corrective exercises prior to commencing pointe.
